- Memory effect does not affect lithium-ion batteries, only older Nickel-Cadmium batteries.
- Keeping battery fully charged and power supply plugged in is harmful to your computer and battery only because of heat. The heat is battery enemy not 100% of charge.
- Avoid full battery discharge (lithium-ion) - frequent discharge to 25%-35% of the capacity level is recommended over full discharge. Don't "deep-cycle" like Ni-Cd.
Battery Gauge Calibration Procedure
- Charge the battery to 100% of its capacity.
- Keep it fully charged for 3 hours to lower its temperature from the charging process.
- Disconnect the power supply and set the computer to hibernate automatically at 5% (it can be higher but never below 5%).
- Leave the machine discharging until it hibernates itself.
- When the computer shuts down completely, let it stay in the hibernation state for 5 hours or more.
- Plug the computer to the A/C power to perform a full charge non-stop until its maximum capacity (100%).
